first impressions mean everything: a title sequence research

Hello hello all! This is Media Mirage back with another post! Today we were looking at other examples of title sequences so we have a feel about what we are gonna do for our trailer. Since me and Jadelyn were the only people in class today we started bouncing off ideas from each other. And Jadelyn told me about a show she liked called "Dexter" that she thinks the trailer could be used as inspiration for our title sequence. And the other two title sequences we talked about were my ideas, which were the show "Why Women Kill" and "WandaVision".

"Dexter"

So for this one, we really liked the imagery of blood through the title sequence, its very subtle but not in the same time. He's not outright killing anyone in the title sequence, but the use of blood and how it is displayed can easily make any viewer a little queasy. We liked how the blood was used as symbolism and how the blood turns into a title. THe meticulate detail allows the watcher to easily watch the disturbing scenes without getting uncomfortable. Like how the eggs bring cracks almost looks like a skull being cracked, these nuances makes the title sequence attention grabbing and interesting.

"Why Women Kill"

Even though this was a cartoon title track, it was nice to see the lighthearted music to go with such a vile action, adding to the irony. I really love the details that throughout this, she has always had a smile on her face, giving it an "Uncanny Valley" feeling. I love the touch of music and I definitely want to use music similar to this to add to the ambiance of this being in the 50's. One of my biggest struggles with dough something from this period is being able to bring the viewer into the time. Because the props and ambiance have a huge part in it.

"WandaVision"

UGHHHHH I LOVE WANDAVISION! I love the use of the black and white text, it gives it a vintage feel. I really like the graphics especially, that something I want to use for the trailer. I love the use of the text and the color grading which is also something I would like to adapt to the trailer. The trailer is very cartoony, as in the acting and I love that part too. As well as the costuming and the fact that the screen is square shape because TVs at the time were shaped as a square, so I would like to adopt that frame size as well.

Thats all for me today, I hope you enjoyed! Til the next one!

xoxo,
